For more than twenty years, Menchu Gutiérrez lived in a lighthouse located on the Spanish northern coast. The Indoors Lighthouse tells the story of the last day of her long and profound experience, and is also “a tribute to the light which makes this lighthouse and all the other lighthouses around the world, one”. Enclosed with this text, Siruela also presents Basenji, which tells the disturbing story of a lighthouse keeper and his African dog, a psychological thriller based on the relation between the light sparkles and the darkness of the lighthouse.

SubirTHE AUTHOR

Menchu Gutiérrez (Madrid, 1957) is a writer, translator, essayist and poet. From her vast collection of poems, we can quote El ojo de Newton, La mano muerta cuenta el dinero de la vida, or La mordedura blanca (Prize Ricardo Molina of Poetry 1989), and the biographical essay San Juan de la Cruz. Her novel Disección de una tormenta was adapted to the cinema by director Julio Soto Gúrpide in 2010.
