The Slow Murderers Los asesinos lentos. Rafael Balanzá Nuevos Tiempos. 159.
THE BOOK
Valle and Cáceres had a rock group in the nineties. They practised together, played together, got drunk together. They have been many years without seeing each other when they meet in a coffee. There they chat animatedly and they remember, among laughs, anecdotes of the past. Suddenly Valle announces to his old friend he has decided to kill him, and that he will do it soon. The rest of the novel comes to be the shock wave; of that first revelation, from which the story vibrating advances until a surprising and strangely lyrical ending that will leave the reader out of breath. The Jury emphasized “the narrative audacity of the awarded novel. Its plot is contained in a very well-built structure which keeps the reader on tenterhooks, leading him to a cunning and unexpected ending”. IN BRIEF
